A large, segmented beetle known for the two glowing glands beneath its antennae, which emit a dull, harmless red light. It mostly scuttles through dark caves, feeding on fungi and detritus, an unthreatening nuisance unless startled. Its carapace is chipped and dull, bearing the marks of many minor scrapes.
